About Me

I hail from the southern most country on the continent of Africa. You guessed it! South Africa! Creative, right?

I have a degree in Mathematics and Statistics, but quite frankly that's the least interesting thing about me.

I have a blog I haven't updated in a while.

I have a podcast, too. It kind of sucks, but it'll get better.

I'm still trying to figure out who I am and what I want.

By the way. Do you see that photo right below? That guy right under this wall of text? This isn't a photo of me. I just typed ā€œhandsome black manā€ on Unsplash and this was the first result.

I have no idea who this man is...

I don't know. I thought it would be funny. Anyway. Moving on...

I'm interested in building startups. There's no doubt in my mind that I'll die a billionaire. But until then, I'll keep sending texts like these:

I Don't Trust LinkedIn

I was scrolling down my LinkedIn timeline when I ran into a post that was liked by someone I follow on LinkedIn. It’s essentially the Founder and CEO of Legends Barber reminiscing about how he started his business 11 years ago...

I've been thinking about death a lot lately. If you've read my previous work, you'll know that death is something that's on my mind quite often. But it's been on my mind much more often as of late. I have watched friends and family of mine lose people over the last few weeks and months. It makes me uncomfortable...

Romans 8:28

Christian

Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. And we know that all things work together for the good… This verse has been a comfort of mine as of late. It is a subtle reminder that God is sovereign, kind, loving, and good. The verse tells us that for those who love God and are called according to His purpose, everything will be alright.

Philosophical Musings

About a year ago I wrote the first issue of The Narrative newsletter. I wrote about birthdays, and mine in particular. I spoke about how beautiful it is to be reminded that I am loved, how awkward it can be to receive attention, how stupid it is that we don't love each other out loud on any other day, and how necessary it is to let people love you. I also spoke about a song by Billy Joel called Vienna. I promised to talk about it again at a later stage and here the later stage has come. This won't be the last I speak of this wonderful song but I want us to start here.
